Katha began in 1988 with a children's magazine and a belief: that a story, read with a finger on each word and a child on the lap, can change a life. Thirty-eight years on, our work spans the literacy-to-literature continuum.
Founded by Padma Shri Geeta Dharmarajan, Katha connects grassroots education with great storytelling. From a single Lab School in a Delhi slum, we've grown into a pan-India movement across literacy, publishing, teacher training and women's livelihoods — reaching 12.4 million children and youth.
We are a non-profit Trust, registered for 80G, 12A and FCRA, and rated Platinum by GuideStar India.
